Good morning world. This is my first post on my new blog. I want to write here about how much a adore my dogs, love to mush, and dream of turning my daughter into a passionate musher too. Dogs are my zen, my peace, my soul food. Mushing is an amazing activity where extreme enthusiasm is somehow corralled into a group sport. Sled dogs love to run, no one who truly has seen the activity start to finish can argue. To organize a team well, to keep all safe and build their stamina, drive and skills is an amazing challenge and beautiful occupation.
Racing can be fun, and is often a great way to experience otherwise closed trails or trails that need human support for road crossings. Also, as I always say, it is a safe way to push your skills because people will notice right away if you don't show up at the finish line.
But mostly I am a recreational musher. I do this because I love it. Because the dogs love it. I do this for fun, to push myself, to challenge myself, and to bask in the zippy fast glow of having done at least a few things right.
I love having you as my mentor. How your infectious love for the sport has bitten me. And opened up a part of me I didn't know could exist. A world of unconditional love for dogs... and mushing.
